Girls outshined boys in a talent search conducted by a Kerala Government agency to find out the scientific temperament and aptitude among students. Seventy five out of 82 students selected for the Pratibha merit scholarships are girls.
The Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE) has instituted Pratibha Scholarship to identify and nurture students to pursue higher studies in basic and natural sciences at universities or institutions in India. Students of Indian origin, with not less than 90 per cent marks or equivalent grade in higher secondary examination were deemed eligible to apply for the scholarships.
Rosmi Abraham, student at Sacred Heart College, Thevara in Kochi, has topped the list of scholarship winners securing 100 per cent marks in the qualifier examination (higher secondary). The full rank list is available on www.kscste.kerala.gov.in. To mark the contribution of women in science, KSCSTE is also celebrating the occasion as International Women’s Day, in tune with the United Nations’ theme ‘The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum.’
